Out of Class Behaviour Audit
The questionnaire was issued in January 2006 when it was completed by 172 students and 35 staff, and again in June 2006 when it was completed by 200 students and 32 staff. The results were analyzed by the Bexley Local Authority.

Pupils Behaviour and Safety:
There was a significant improvement in staff opinion of students’ behaviour, particularly in the Restaurant. In every sub-category regarding their behaviour and feeling safe, students’ opinion improved from ‘often’ to ‘almost always’, a 50% increase in total. Regarding ‘in corridors’ and at lunchtime, ‘almost always’ opinions doubled from January to June.

Staff and Student Politeness and Friendliness:
The number of students and staff who think that students are ‘often’ or ‘almost always’ polite and friendly towards each other rose from January to June. Also the number of staff who think that students are ‘often’ or ‘almost always’ polite and friendly towards staff rose significantly from January to June.

We are delighted with these improvements and will work to ensure we improve still further.

Attendance and Punctuality

It is essential for students to understand the importance of being on time and to attend school every day if they are to progress academically and develop the good habits which will equip them for a successful life beyond school.
We expect students to attend every day and to arrive at the Academy by 8.15am which allows them time to get to registration in their Tutor rooms at 8.20am Students are rewarded for attending regularly and being punctual.
Rewards take the form of certificates, gift tokens and house points. Students are presented with these rewards in their House assemblies. Students who are late twice in a week will be placed into the Head of House detention.
To enable you to track your child’s attendance record we will be operating a traffic light system. At the end of terms 2, 4 and 6 students will be told their % attendance.
If it is over 95% they will be given a green light and a certificate.
Students whose % is between 85% and 95% will be given an amber light which means they need to improve and if their % is less than 90% parents will be asked to come in to the Academy to discuss the situation.
Students whose % attendance is less than 85% will be given a red light and there will be a meeting with the Education Welfare Officer.
The % attendance will be marked in your child’s student planner.
Thank you for your continued support.
