ICT in The Academy

Information Technology is of increasing importance in the modern world. This means that all children need to have the opportunity to develop their understanding of and skills in ICT, throughout their Academy careers, so that they are equipped for the ever-changing technological demands of the working environment.

As well as being an important national curriculum requirement, the ability to use IT effectively is a vital skill in modern society. We, as an Academy, interpret ICT to include the use of equipment which allows users (the students) to communicate and manipulate information electronically.

This will include the use of:

Computers using the latest commercially available software connecting wirelessly using laptops and desktop PCs.
 Programmable equipment, sensors and probes
Assistive technology eg. overlay keyboards, voice operated equipment
Smart cards for security and for accessing resources
 Electronic musical instruments
Digital Cameras, scanners and the use of interactive whiteboards
Audio and video imaging using the new Academy studios
Using PCs to interact with Learning Mangers and the new interactive whiteboards that are placed in every teaching room.

ICT will offer us a means of carrying out tasks to a higher standard more efficiently and, at the Academy raising standards using first class equipment to help streamline the learning process.
