Rooms in the school
Some classes in the school are going to write about one room in the school. They might be put on the net in a few weeks or so. Some other schools like woodland junior have done it and described how big and small there classrooms are. We are doing this because ms Polson the BAB`s primary vice-princeipl likes the idea and we want to descrieb our classes and other rooms.

BAB`s open day
There will be three open days in October we are not sure when the dates are but we will put them on the web when we find out. We will most probably find out the dates in a few weeks.

School Council interview new and old teachers
Our school council are going to interview a few new and old teachers that are coming to our school to teach a class. We are doing this because we want to know why they want to be a teacher at our school and other information. That means we will know how they feel in our school like safe, sad, scared, happy or reallyexcited.
Updates
Friendship Funday
We are aiming to make a world record breaking Friendship chain.
On Thursday 22nd May the whole school will attempt to make a link of friendship, which we will bring together to make our giant friendship chain.
We are thinking about using recycled materials and other things that represent friendship.
Throughout the day we will be taking photos to prove that we have achieved our target!!

Playtime Behaviour
We are thinking about children's behaviour out on the playground. We did surveys to ask children what they thought the problems at playtime were. We also looked at how children were using the playground - what they were playing and where. We think that it is really important that everyone in school feels happy and safe at playtime.

- BAB Support Squad
- We are going to put together a Support Squad which will be on duty at playtimes to look out for children who are feeling unhappy or who might be having trouble withtheir behaviour. We are going to ask anyone who wants to be a member of the support squad to write an application letter to say why they think they would be good at the job, the School Council will will choose 20 of the children to be interviewed to see if they are suitable and then train them for the job.
- Behaviour Boxes
- We are going to have Behaviour Boxes out on the playground so that children can tell the school council about problems that are happening at playtime. Children can write a short message about anything they are worried about and put it in the bad behaviour box and the school council and Ms Polson will help them to sort it out. We are also really interested in who is being good at playtimes too, so we have a good behaviour box where children can leave a note to say who was playing really nicely or being really kind and say what they did. The School Councillors will take it in turns being in charge of the behaviour boxes each week.
School Travel Plan
The Academy has to make a School Travel Plan to get ideas about how we can encourage staff, students and families to come to school in a healthy and environmentally friendly way - we will get some money from the government to help us make our ideas come true. We are thinking of as many ways as we can to give children and staff more choices about how they travel.
Updates
- School travel plan has been approved!!!
- The school travel plan has been approved by transport for london. We will soon be geting a capital funding grant that we can use to help enourage even more people to walk or use public transport to get to school. We will find out how much we are going to get in a few weeks.
- Bronze Award!!!
- We have been awarded a Bronze Award for our School Travel Plan. We have been awarded this because Bexley were so impressed with the work and projects we have been doing to encourage more children to and adults to walk to school.
- Sidcup Cycles
- Next Thursday 2 members of the school council will go to Sidcup Cycles with a member of staff to pick up our 20 cycles! We still need people to donate their old cycles (or cycle parts) so if you have any please bring them to school.
- Walk to School Week Badges
- The organisers of Walk to School week send out really lovely enamel badges to schools as rewards for children who walk to school regularly every month. There is also a competition to design new badges for next year - each badge has a theme of something that happens during that month - November might be fireworks, August might have a beach or sunshine on it.
- Global Warming Info
- School Councillors are going to talk to their classes about Global Warming. All classes have been asked to watch and talk about a PowerPoint presentation called 'What keeps the planet warm?' and think of as many ways that they can that we can reduce the Greenhouse gases that we make when we travel to and from school.
- Cycle Helmets
- From our surveys we found out that lots of children would like to be able to ride a bike to school - we also found out that hardly anyone said that they would like to wear a cycle helmet. We are going to organise a 'Design a helmet' competition to encourage everyone to think about how important it is always to wear a helmet when you ride a bike.
- Sidcup Cycles
- The owners of Sidcup Cycles have said that they will donate bikes to us for children to use to travel to and from school. We will need to make some posters for the shop to ask people to take any old bikes that they don't want there - the shop will then fix the bikes to make them safe and then they will give them to us!
- Parents' Survey
- We put a survey online and asked parents to come into the Primary to take the survey on laptops outside the office - 40 parents took part in the survey (Thanks!) which was a very good amount.
- Surveys
- We have been doing surveys to find out about how people come to school. School Councillors have been asking their classes what they think and to see if there are any suggestions or concerns about their journeys to and from school. Lots of children think we really really need a Crossing Patrol (Lollipop Person) and lots of children would want to come to school on foot or by bike.
